First Diamond Woman Enterprise Seminar Holds in Ibadan



Diamond Woman proposition, an initiative by Diamond Bank PLC aimed at empowering women economically, launched the first edition of its Enterprise Seminar in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, recently.
The Seminar, organized in partnership with the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan Atlantic University, provides financial and advisory services, access to market opportunities and networking platforms to female entrepreneurs.
Welcoming participants to the event, Aisha Ahmad, Head, Retail Financial Services, Diamond Bank PLC, said that the idea of the Diamond Woman Enterprise Seminar is informed by Diamond Bank’s desire to ensure that Nigerian women are well empowered to join the growing global female economy. 
According to her, “Research shows that about 50 per cent of new businesses are set up by women. Realizing the unique needs of this key segment of the population, Diamond Bank deemed it necessary to empower them with business management skills and networking opportunities to fulfill their life goals.” 
“The Diamond Woman Enterprise Seminar provides a unique capacity building platform to better position our female entrepreneurs as they multitask in their various roles as home makers, career women and business owners,” she added.
Anna Gincherman, Chief Product Development Officer, Women’s World Banking, a nonprofit organization that provides strategic support, technical assistance and information particularly to women entrepreneurs in developing countries, lauded Diamond Bank’s efforts at bridging the gaps confronting female entrepreneurs.
She said: “Women’s World Banking is proud to be associated with Diamond Bank for providing access to financial services, financial education and knowledge to Nigerian female entrepreneurs. These are the areas where women entrepreneurs are most challenged and Diamond Bank is bridging the gap.”
Nneka Okekearu, Deputy Director of the EDC, noted that, “a major problem in women-owned businesses is the non-adherence to a systematic pricing structure, which does not augur well for sustainability.” She expressed optimism that the knowledge acquired in the seminar will help the women adopt better practices that will help them make profit and grow their businesses successfully.
The Ibadan event had about 400 women entrepreneurs in attendance. The seminar was themed: The basics of product pricing-getting it right from the beginning.

Amaju Wins NFF Election



 Amaju Pinnick, Delta FC chairman, has won the NFF election held Tuesday afternoon in Warri after two rounds of voting.
Pinnick led other contestants with 25 votes in the first round, as Taiwo Ogunjobi polled 9votes, while Dominic Iorfa and Amanze Uchegbulam secured 6 and 4 votes respectively.
To emerge the President of the football body, he won the second round of election with a simple majority. He polled 32 votes.
Dominic Iorfa came second with 8 votes while Taiwo Ogunjobi polled 4 votes.

Reacting to the outcome of the election, ex-Eagles player Iorfa said he was a better candidate for the NFF President position, lamenting that “money won the election.”

Meanwhile, other candidates have congratulated Pinnick on his victory.

Diesel Thief Electrocuted In Plateau



An alleged diesel thief has died Monday morning after he was electrocuted by an electric barbed fence in Plateau state while trying to steal diesel from a compound.
The suspect, who was identified as Mr. John Aboy, and two other men had attempted to get into the compound to steal the diesel around 3am before Aboy who led the group was electrocuted. 
On seeing what happened, the two other men took to their heels and left Aboy to his fate. Aboy was later found hanging dead on the electric fence in the morning by residents of the area.
 The state Police command latter   arrived the scene and took the hanging corpse away.

Rich Homie Quan Father Shot, Hospitalized in Atlanta



 Rich Homie Quan's father got shot multiple times this morning, and the rapper is by his side in an Atlanta hospital ... TMZ has learned.
Quan's dad, Corey Lamar, was in the barber shop he owns this morning when a man ... or men ... came in and attempted to rob the place -- and during the hold up they opened fire ... according to Quan's rep.
We're told Lamar -- who is Quan's manager -- was hit 4 times. He was rushed to a hospital and taken into surgery. We're told he is in critical condition, but expected to survive.
RHQ was at the hospital when his father got out of surgery. Police are investigating the shooting. So far, they know the suspect fled the barber shop in a black Honda.

Boko Haram Kills Pastor, 19 Others In Borno Villages



Some suspected members of Boko Haram sect yesterday attacked Shaffa and Shindiffu villages of Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, killing one Pastor Eliud Gwamna Mshelizza of the Living Faith Church, a teacher (names withheld) at Government Girls Secondary School, Shaffa, and 18 other persons who were mainly Christians.
The terrorists also burnt down about 10 churches such as E.Y.N No I, E.Y.N No II and III in Shaffa and Shindiffu villages as well several houses.  A clinic and some staff quarters and structures at the Government Girls Secondary School in Shaffa were also destroyed.
Unfortunately for the terrorists, as they were about to leave Shindiffu and proceed to Turaku village, another Christian community, to continue their deadly acts, troops from Adamawa axis and Biu Military barracks, who were on their trail ambushed them and killed almost all of them.
The attackers, according to fleeing residents invaded Shaffa at about 8pm on Wednesday and wreaked havoc before storming Shindiffu village yesterday morning at about 11am.
Shaffa is south and about 20 kilometres drive from Azare, the headquarters of Hawul which is 215 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital, which has remained under series of attacks by Boko Haram.
