New Edition singer Bobby, 44, had been ordered to spend 55 days behind bars for drink-driving but was released almost immediately because of jail overcrowding.

The ex-husband of late singing icon Whitney Houston was led away from court yesterday after the star left it until the very last day to hand himself in.

He had been handed the sentence in February following his arrest back in October.

The singer will now spend the next four years on probation and will complete an alcohol education course.

An officer was killed and four others seriously injured when two police helicopters crashed into each other during a riot training exercise above Berlin's Olympic Stadium.

ISRAEL will have “no greater friend” than the US in pursuit of peace in the Middle East, Barack Obama promised yesterday.

On his first visit to Israel as president, America’s leader described the two nations’ alliance as “eternal”.

He signed the guest book at the residence of President Shimon Peres and told him: “The United States is proud to stand with you as your strongest ally.”

Peres replied: “Peace is not only a wish, but a possibility.”

Later, Mr Obama told Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu the US would work with Israel to stop Iran obtaining nukes, “the world’s worst weapons”. If diplomacy fails “all options are on the table”, said Mr Obama.

Mr Netanyahu said diplomacy must be backed by “a clear and credible threat of military action”.

Mr Obama also pledged to investigate whether chemical weapons were used this week in neighbouring Syria’s two-year-old civil war.

South Africa's consul-general in China has been recalled after he was allegedly found wandering the streets naked.

Lassy Chiwayo, a veteran politician who spent time in prison with Nelson Mandela, has had his contract in Shanghai terminated and is back in Pretoria.

The South African foreign office says he was recalled due to 'health reasons', but several newspapers have reported that Mr Chiwayo was found wandering naked near his home three months ago.

According to Sunday World, his nude walks were a regular occurrence.

A source said: 'He would disappear for days without trace and he would be found walking around naked.'

Mr Chiwayo was also reported to have assaulted South Africa's ambassador to China Bheki Langa at an official function in Beijing.

The 44-year-old has denied he was recalled saying it is 'general practice' for envoys to be reassigned.

He dismissed the naked wandering stories and insisted his relationship with Dr Langa was 'healthy and cordial'.

'All that you are saying is news to me,' he told the Sunday World. 'I don't have any health challenges that need intervention from the department.'

And Big Pat - who took a bottle to the head during a fight between Chris and rival Drake last year - was forced to take a Jet Blue plane to New York to get home.

An airport worker told the Bermuda Sun, which reported the incident, that Chris's flight was about to depart before the controversy broke out.

He said: "Big Pat was standing outside talking to the pilot before Chris Brown and another guy came off.

"They then went outside to have a cigarette. The security guard (Big Pat) then came inside the airport building and said he wasn't getting back on the plane."

Police arrested a woman during a drugs raid - and found a loaded handgun hidden in her vagina.

Suspect Christie Dawn Harris, 28, had the weapon pointing up inside herself with just the handle sticking out.

A female officer made the startling find during a search in Oklahomana, US, which also uncovered bags of methamphetamine hidden up her bottom.

The official police report - seen here - tells how the cop spotted the .22-calibre shooter “sticking out from” her privates. Officer Kathy Unbewust observed “a wooden and metal item sticking out from her vagina area.”

It had three live rounds inside and one spent shell. Sneaky Harris had tried to avoid detection during the search as she was booked in at a police station by claiming she was on her period.

She had also repeatedly asked to go to the toilet while being transported to jail. Officers had earlier swooped on Harris and another woman called Jennifer Delancy who were sat inside a vehicle at 3:45am on Monday morning. Both front seats were laid fully back.

When asked if there were any drugs or weapons in the Toyota Yaris motor, Harris said “she did not think there was anything.”

But a police dog search uncovered meth, drug paraphernalia, a pistol, and a loaded magazine. The duo were then both arrested and now face weapons and drug charges.

Woman killed by lion

A frisky woman was mauled to death by a lion as she had sex with her boyfriend in the African bush.

Sharai Mawera was enjoying a passionate moment with her lover when the Big Cat struck. Sharai’s partner, who has not been identified, ran off naked in a bid to raise the alarm.

But local reports say tragic market worker Sharai was killed at the scene in Kariba, northern Zimbabwe.

A friend told My Zimbabwe: “Unfortunately the woman was mauled to death by the lion, but her boyfriend managed to escape naked.”

The pal said Sharai and her fisherman boyfriend would meet at their favourite beauty spot in the wild.

He said: “The two were romping when the incident occurred. The lion came from behind and roared.

“The guy managed to escape before stopping at a distance where he witnessed his companion being attacked.

Police officers and armed rangers rushed to the scene where they discovered Sharai’s mauled remains.

The source said: “Cops and officers attended the scene and fired a single shot before getting to the spot.

“The woman had already been killed. She had bloody bruises all over her body. Her neck and tummy had been mauled.”

Rangers launched a hunt for the lion following the tragedy, amid concern the same animal may have killed a local man who disappeared at the weekend.

The remains of the victim were found on the outskirts of the town, which lies near the Zambezi river.

Police believe the man, who has not been named, was eaten by a lion as he walked home from a nightclub.

Experts believe the fact Sharai was mauled rather than eaten suggests the same beast was responsible for both attacks – but was not overly hungry.

Nick Cannon has been drafted to play Rick Ross on the big screen. No, not the rhyme-spitting Ricky Rozay, but former drug trafficker "Freeway" Rick Ross.

Cannon, who is executive-producing the film, was chosen by Ross himself for the Nick Cassavetes-directed biopic. "I chose Nick Cannon based on a few factors. The role is 17 to 25 in age, many of our award-winning actors are much older than that range," Ross told Allhiphop.com, adding that he is "a guy who captures my character when I was in custody in San Diego."

The film's plot is set to revolve around his dealings in the drug world during the '80s and his subsequent incarceration. There's no word on whether his feud with rapper Ross over the use of his moniker will make it into the film. (A second suit over the Ross name was dropped back in March 2012, allowing the MC to continue using the moniker.)

"This story will be real, and show how the War on Drugs took young kids and turned them into criminals and set them for prison practically overnight," Ross said. "It's not just an LA story. My reach was across the nation into black, white, and all communities regardless of class. Our goal is to tell the truth, not a vanity piece."

Cannon and Ross first announced their plans to work together on the film in a YouTube video on Sunday. During the brief clip, Ross shared that he first wanted Cannon to play him in a film back in the 2000s. In the video, Cannon said, "We family now. We gonna get this thing right however long it take."

Speaking to US radio station Hot 97's DJ Enuff, he said: "Yeah, number seven bothers me.

"To me, I feel like in order for them to put me as number seven, they had to bring up things they didn't like.

"They didn't like the 'Cruel Summer' album, and I'm like, 'That's just [a] compilation'.

"I don't know, it's definitely not based on a body of work. It possibly could just be like overall rap-MC-swag.

"What happens is, with these types of things... They don't like 'Givenchy Kanye,' they don't like Kanye in a kilt, they don't like Kanye in a relationship."

However, the 'All of the Lights' star doesn't believe he deserved top spot on the list, as he still thinks the world's best rapper is Lil Wayne.

So far, MTV have revealed the fifth to tenth placed artists on the list, with Drake in fifth followed by Big Sean then Kanye.
