The Sun publishing Limited has raised the alarm over an
alleged plan by former governor of Abia State, Chief T.A. Orji and his son,
Chinedu to instigate violent attacks on offices of the company in Abia and
other South-east states.
In a statement issued yesterday, The Sun management drew
the attention of the public to the alleged plan, which is coming on the heels
of publication in Daily Sun last week of a petition written to the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging that the former governor, his
wife and son squandered N474bn of Abia State funds.
The Sun management stated that publication of the petition
filed by The Save Abia Initiative for Change was based on the principle of fair
comment.
It condemned the resort to barbarism in a civilized democracy
by people who had been privileged to occupy high political offices in the
land.
The company also drew the attention of law enforcement
agencies to the possible attack on its premises and sought for protection to
avert destruction of lives and property.
