Halle Berry has confessed that getting pregnant "has been the biggest surprise" of her life.
Talking to CNN about becoming a mother for the second time, the star, 46, said she felt "fantastic", admitting that she didn't expect to fall pregnant at her age.The Academy Award-winning actress did not confirm whether she and Olivier Martinez were expecting a boy or a girl: "I don't know, I don't know. But (the baby is) healthy!"
During the interview, Halle also spoke about her work with designer Michael Kors and the U.N. World Food Programme (WFP) to fight hunger.
The expectant actress and fashion designer announced a philanthropic campaign on Monday called Watch Hunger Stop that includes raising money through the sale of a version of Michael's best-selling Runway watch.
Halle has co-designed two new versions of the designer's much-loved 'Runway' watch. Each watch sold will allow for 100 meals to be provided for hungry children through the WFP.
Halle and Michael are planning to visit places together where the meals will be sent. They could land in Africa, in Syria, and perhaps Central America.
"I hope we go while I'm pregnant, so I can talk about prenatal care. It's so important to me, being a mom, that I can help educate women on how important it is that when you have a healthy child, it helps set them up for life."
On Friday, Halle's representative confirmed that the Oscar-winner is expecting a baby with her French actor fiancé Olivier Martinez, 47.
She is already a proud mum to daughter Nahla, five, with her ex Gabriel Aubrey.
In a November appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Halle revealed that Nahla desperately wanted to be a big sister. "Every night, we do our prayers... She says, 'God, please bring me a bunk bed and a baby sister.' And I say, 'I can do one of those things, I know for sure. The other one, we've got to keep praying on'," she said.
