The city of Lagos comes alive this September as For The Love Of Country returns to Terra Kulture courtesy of Slum2 School Africa, a social advocacy group created to change the lives of children living in rural communities, and the Creative Nigeria Project to support charity efforts to raise funds for the Mentorship Hub for urban slums in Lagos.
The musical featuring the Crown Troupe of
Africa is an interpretation of the last 100 years of Nigeria’s socio-cultural
history skilfully delivered by leading musical and screen acts. It will offer
the rare delight of listening to a mix of timeless Nigerian songs.
In
a press release by the curator of Creative Nigeria Project, Ferdinand Adimefe, stated that “Investing in the lives of our
children is the best way to secure our future. This is why we invite you to
join the effort of Slum to School and Creative Nigeria Project. Through the For The Love Of Country event, we hope
to raise Ten Million Naira [N10m Only] to establish community mentorship hubs
in Makoko.
Also,
the founder of S2S Orodaam Otto also stated that this event is one of the
creative ways the organisation is seeking to raise fund. The Slum 2 School is a social advocacy group
created to change lives, especially that of the less-privileged and orphaned
children. In the last two years, they have impacted over 3000
Orphans/Vulnerable out-of-school children, through the provision of educational
scholarships and other psycho-social support programs. The vision of the group
is to transform the society by empowering disadvantaged children to realize
their full potential.
