ROAD TO YESTERDAY MOVIEE: NATIONWIDE CINEMA RELEASE DATE - 27th NOVEMBER 2015



T.E.N (The Entertainment Network) producers of the feature film ‘Road to Yesterday’ are pleased to announce that the highly-anticipated film will be released in all Nigerian cinemas on Friday, the 27th of November 2015.

Directed by Ishaya Bako, Road to Yesterday stars the Award-winning actress, Genevieve Nnaji and introduces Nigerian-British actor, Oris Erhuerho. Majid Michel, Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah and veteran Ebele Okaro lead the supporting cast.

Set in Lagos Nigeria, Road to Yesterday is an epic love story, about a couple desperate to mend its marriage on a road trip to a relative’s funeral. However when memories and secrets from the past are revealed, a lot more is at stake than their relationship.  Road to Yesterday is set to resonate with movie-goers nationwide.

Genevieve Nnaji, stars as ‘Victoria Izu’ the conflicted wife and mother. Ms. Nnaji is the Quintessential Nollywood Star, with a stellar resume that includes both national and global accolades. With past credits such as ‘Half of A Yellow Sun’, ‘Tango With Me’ & “Ije”, Ms. Nnaji returns to the screen with her first feature film in over two years.

The original screenplay was written and directed by Ishaya Bako, a London Film School Alumni, and creator of a series of highly acclaimed festival favourites including the award winning “Braids on a Bald Head” - Best Short Film at the 2012 AMAA Awards. Road to Yesterday is Bako’s feature directorial debut.

Road to Yesterday was shot in various locations across Lagos. Its proudly Nigerian cast and crew celebrate the depth of local talent. With the support of AfricaMagic, the technical quality of the Film demonstrates that it is possible to make a high quality production in Nigeria with the appropriate budget and technical input.

The Nigerian Premiere is set for Wednesday 18th November 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.

YORÙBÁ LÁKỌ̀TUN: BIRTH OF CULTURAL RENAISSANCE




In a bid to revive Yoruba language in Lagos, Nigeria, Olútáyọ̀ Ìrántí, a cultural and literary enthusiast, developed Yorùbá LákỌ̀tun, an event aimed at cultural and literary renaissance. The first edition took place at Ethnic Heritage Center, Ikoyi, Lagos over the weekend.

The center is a language training hub for people who are interested in learning and gaining proficiency in the three Nigerian languages, namely Yorùbá, Hausa, Igbo languages while French is the international language that people can learn there.

m-ba Olúṣẹ̀san Ajewlé, the special guest, whose book is currently being used by West African Examinations Council for Yoruba literature, Igbeyin Lalayo Nta, was delighted to speak to an audience of Yorùbá enthusiasts who want the language to survive despite the westernization of the African psyche.


Ajewlé made reference to the experiment done by Prof Wande Abimbola some decades ago in which children were equipped with their mother tongue and they excelled also in English language. He urged participants to keep the language alive with fervour.

The depth of Yoruba language was also brought to the fore by Akin Ogundokun Winrínwinrìn, the performer poet for the day, he sang the praised of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Atanda Adeyemi III and other towns.

There were a lot of cultural enthusiasts in attendance cut across corporate and social Nigeria. The event was done in purely in Yorùbá language and the ambience was quite rustic in nature.
