Dairo has sued Etisalat and Optima Media Group who stage the yearly Nigerian
Idol show for the unauthorized usage of his song, Mosorire. He accused them of
reproducing his song on the show and airing it on air as well as their youtube
channel without his consent.
Paul Play
said he wouldn’t have sued the brands if they agreed to his terms when his
lawyer wrote them. He stressed that they didn’t respond to him and his lawyer,
hence he had no choice than to go to court. He is suing them for N200 million for
special and general damages for the flagrant and unlawful exploitation of his
copyrighted work.
